1st Field Trip: West Cork County

Me in the royal ringfort!

The adorable town of Clonakilty, where we had lunch...

Next stop: Ballynacarriga Tower House

My friend Caitlin and I in front of the castle!

Coppinger's Court, a semi-fortified house from a distance...

This is my professor showing us what a fulachadta fiadh looks like! Not much anymore, haha...

Verrrry cool, Drombeg Stone Circle

Me with the Bronze Age stone circle

1st time seeing the Atlanic Ocean from the other side of the world! Love itttt!

Second Field Trip: Dublin, Meath and Louth Counties
Inside the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin

Some beaker pottery and polished stone axes, exciting, I know.

A pretty cross, and if you look closely you will see a small bubble in the middle intersection. Supposedly this contains a piece of the cross that Jesus was actually crucified on, so if that was the case, I had to sneak a picture, right?

Yes, this is one of the bog bodies I talked about. This body is from the 5th century, so that's what? 16 centuries ago? Mhmm, true story. Oh and by the way, he was tortured and decapitated before he was preserved in the bog. Doesn't make much sense to me either...

Christ Church Cathedral

So beautiful!

One side of the church still has some of the original building material, like stone, but the other side is completely new and renovated because it fell down. This is the old side.

High Crosses at Monesterboice, so neat!

Checking out the other high cross in front of the round tower. It was DOWNPOURING.

Me next to a high cross. They were huge! But so cool, and so Ireland, right?

Next Day: Newgrange! This passage tomb is one of Ireland's three World Heritage sites and is older than both Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids!

Me in front of the passage tomb entrance!

My friend Hannah and I in front of Newgrange. It was realllllly cold and windy. But awesome, all the same.

Next stop: Trim Castle. The best example of a medieval castle in Ireland. If you are a Braveheart fan, you should visit this, because it was mostly filmed here!

My friend Kacie and I

Here's the famous window!!! The one someone in Braveheart was thrown out of. Looks like I'll have to watch the movie now :)

And if you ever wonder why I get confused with the weather here, this explains a lot. Sunny in one corner, and dark storm clouds in the other.

The beautiful view from the top of the castle!

And finally, the view leaving the castle. So neat!

Hope you all enjoyed my field trip pictures! This week we are hitting up County Tipperary to see the Rock of Cashel, and next week we are headed west to see some awesome sites! I'll post again soon, so keep checking :)
